Jersey-Bred Who’s the Cowboy a Millionaire

Nine-year-old New Jersey-bred Who’s the Cowboy, a seven-time stakes winner, passed the $1 million mark in earnings when he won an allowance optional claiming event at Monmouth Park July 25 (VIDEO).

Who’s the Cowboy, bred by Carolyn Sleeter and owned by the Sleeter family for most of his career, won the one-mile allowance race by two lengths under Paco Lopez. The gelding, by Intensity out of the Bettor Arbitor mare Image’s Image, has done most of his racing at six furlongs.

The victory pushed his career earnings to $1,026,722. He was owned by Island Wind Racing and trained by Peter Walder, but trainer Chuck Spina claimed him for $15,000 for owner George O’Malley.

Who’s the Cowboy was claimed from owner Gerald Sleeter and trainer Kevin Sleeter last year at Monmouth.

Though a Jersey-bred, Who’s the Cowboy has won five open stakes, all at Monmouth, as well as three state-bred stakes. His record stands at 18 wins, 11 seconds, and 12 thirds in 66 starts.
